Professor David T. Hill

David T. Hill is Professor of Southeast Asian Studies in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Murdoch University. His books include Journalism and Politics in Indonesia: A Critical Biography of Mochtar Lubis (1922-2004) as Editor and Author, (Routledge, 2010) and The Press in New Order Indonesia (1994, reprinted Equinox 2007). With Krishna Sen he has co-edited Politics and the Media in Twenty-First Century Indonesia: Decade of Democracy (Routledge, 2011) and co-authored The Internet in Indonesia's New Democracy (Routledge, 2005) and Media, Culture and Politics in Indonesia (OUP, 2000; Equinox, 2007). Three of his books have been translated into Indonesian.
In addition, he is the Founder and Director of the Australian Consortium for In-Country Indonesian Studies (ACICIS), an international consortium of 24 universities which assists foreign students to study in Indonesian universities.
Prof. Hill is accredited as a Professional (Level 3) English/Indonesian Interpreter and Translator by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI), Canberra. He has been a Visiting Senior Research Fellow in the Asia Research Institute of the National University of Singapore (2006); a participant in the Australia 2020 Summit (April 2008), a National Teaching Fellow of the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (since 2009) and a Board Member of the DFAT Australia-Indonesia Institute (since 2011).
