Dr Gregory Acciaioli

Greg Acciaioli is currently a research associate in the Asia Research Centre. His research interests focus regionally on Southeast Asia, with an emphasis on Indonesia . Topics he has researched include migration and ethnic interaction in Central Sulawesi, social effects of rice intensification in South Sulawesi, and government representations of minority cultures in the New Order and Reformasi eras, especially in popular media and theme parks. He is continuing work on this topic under the auspices of an Australian Research Council Discovery grant on local governance and resource management in Indonesia in association with Carol Warren of Asian Studies and the Asia Research Centre, and John McCarthy, Asia Research Centre, Murdoch University, as well as Jim Schiller and Anton Lucas, both of Asian Studies, Flinders University of South Australia.
