Dr Andrew Brown

Dr Andrew Brown is a political scientist specialising in the history and politics of mainland Southeast Asia with a specific focus on Thailand. His PhD dealt with industrialisation and the rise of working class politics in Thailand. He is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Political and Social Change, RSPAS, The Australian National University. Andrew co-edited (with Jane Hutchison) the fifth New Rich volume, 'Organising Labour in Globalising Asia'. He has recently finished a new book 'Labour, Politics and the State in Thailand' which will be published in 2003 through the City University of Hong Kong RoutledgeCurzon series. Andrew's current research interests centre on the impact of the 1997 economic crisis on industrial employment, labour relations and regime change in Thailand.
