Dr Anita Chan

BA (Hong Kong), MA (York), MA (SOAS), PhD (Sussex)

Anita Chan is a sociologist specialising on China. Her past writings have focused on the Chinese peasantry, the Red Guard movement, political socialisation, class formation and social movements. A number of her writings have been translated into Chinese and Japanese. She is currently on the research staff of the Contemporary China Centre at the Australian National University. Her present research focuses on management styles and worker-management relations in Chinese firms. She is co-editor of The China Journal. Her books include Children of Mao, Chen Village under Mao and Deng, and, most recently, China's Workers Under Assault.
