Dr Surin MaisrikrodBA, PhD (Hawaii) Born and raised in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province in Thailand, Surin received his first degree in Political Science in 1979 (Singh'28)from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok Thailand. Between 1979-86, Surin worked as a journalist with a number of news organisation in Thailand, including The Nation, Naew Na and AP (Associated Press). In 1986, Surin received an East-West Center scholarship to do his postgraduate studies at the University of Hawaii, where he received a PhD in Political Science in 1991. Surin spent three and a half years as a research fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) before joining James Cook University in 1995. Surin has been guest lecturer at the Australian Defense Colledge (ADC) and a member of the Board of the Thai National Studies Center, ANU.
