Professor Gary Meyers
Professor of Law since 2002; Director, Indigenous Lands: Rights, Governance & Environmental Management Project; Associate Professor of Law 1996 - 2001; Senior Lecturer in Law 1992 - 95; Associate Dean/Research and Chair, LLM Program 1999 - 2001; Director, Environmental Law & Policy Centre, Murdoch University, 1994 - 1996. Professor Meyers is a graduate of the University of Southern California (B.A., cum laude, 1970), of Lewis & Clark College, Northwestern School of Law (J.D., 1982) and of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. (LL.M., 1991). He is admitted to the Oregon State Bar (1983) as well as the U.S. District Court, District of Oregon (1983) and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit (1984). Professor Meyers was formerly Adjunct Professor of Law in the Lewis & Clark College, Northwestern School of Law and Adjunct Professor, "Core Program", in the Lewis & Clark College, College of Arts and Sciences. He has held a number of administrative positions in the College, including Assistant Dean and Director, Natural Resources, Continuing Legal Education, and Externship Programs. Previously he spent 10 years in a variety of state government policy and administrative positions. His publications are in the areas of indigenous land rights and environmental and natural resources law with a special emphasis on the management of public resources, protection of wildlife, international environmental policy, and Aboriginal legal rights.
