Dr Zaharom Nain

Zaharom Nain is Associate Professor of Communication Studies at the Science University
of Malaysia, Penang and Chair of the Journalism Programme. His areas of interest are the political economy of communication and cultural studies. He is co-editor of Communication and Development: The Freirean Connection (2001) and Who Owns The Media? Global Trends and Local Resistances (2004). He has taught and conducted research at the University of California, San Diego where he was a Fulbright Professor (1998-99), at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, where he was a Visiting Professor (2004), and at Sophia University, Tokyo, where he was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Visiting Scholar (1995).
