Dr Sally Sargeson
Dr Sargeson's research has focussed on the social effects of economic reform in China, with particular reference to urban workers. Her study of working conditions and labour relations in joint-venture firms, published by Macmillan, has been described as ‘the best ethnography of factory work yet produced on the country’. More recently, she has researched and written on changes in property rights in China. Dr Sargeson is currently coordinating a collaborative research project analysing changes in the management of collective goods in Asia.
