Professor Ian Scott

Professor Scott’s research interests lie principally in the fields of public administration, public policy and Hong Kong politics. Prior to coming to Murdoch University, he held the chair in Politics and Public Administration at the University of Hong Kong. He was the founding editor (in 1978) of the Asian Journal of Public Administration and has written many books and articles on the public services of Asian countries, in particular Hong Kong. His best known book is Political Change and the Crisis of Legitimacy in Hong Kong (Oxford University Press 1989). More recently, he has edited a book on Hong Kong’s retrocession to China and is currently working on an Australian Research Council-funded project on administrative capacity and institution-building.
