Dr Ranald James Taylor

Ranald is currently teaching Economics at Murdoch University. He has recently completed an extensive research on the economic development of Malaysia. His PhD thesis examines the impact of education, international trade and technological progress on the economic growth of Malaysia. He was previously attached to the Chief Minister's Department in Malaysia, and had developed and implemented several development policies within the state of Sabah, in order to, for example, alleviate rural and urban poverty. He has also served as a consultant for various Australian commonwealth and state departments. His main areas of interest are on Malaysia and economic growth, particularly the impact of technological progress (with specific reference to learning by doing), international trade, and human capital accumulation on a nation's economic growth.
