Associate Professor Khoo Boo Teik

Associate Professor Khoo Boo Teik is presently involved in a comparative study of post-crisis Southeast Asian regimes, as well as being engaged in research on the Malaysian political economy after the crises of July 1997 and September 1998. He is the author of Paradoxes of Mahathirism: An Intellectual Biography of Mahathir Mohamad (Oxford University Press, 1995) and several essays on the judiciary and the erosion of democracy in Malaysia, economic nationalism, and the 'Asian values' debate. He teaches courses in development studies in the School of Social Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, and frequently writes social and political commentaries for a Penang-based magazine.
