Dr Jian Zhang

BSc (Zhejiang), MA (Economics, Zhejiang), PhD (Murd)

Jian Zhang has recently completed a PhD on the role that local governments played in China’s transition to a market economy. His current research interests include the politics of welfare provision in rural China, and the state-owned enterprise reform in China’s steel industry. He was a lecturer at the School of International Economics, Zhejiang University, and has published in books and journals on the economic restructuring of China. He was also the Vice-Secretary General of Zhejiang Investment Studies Association and conducted a number of consulting projects for Chinese government institutions, including the Ministry of Energy.
